Johnny Depp doesn’t sport all that jewelry just to look hot. (That’s just a by-product.)
In advance of his 45th birthday on June 9, Johnny’s Angels—a club whose members share both a love for the Sweeney Todd star and a yen for doing good—is urging fellow fans to don a Children’s Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition memorial bracelet (which Depp has been spotted wearing) in honor of the brave kids involved with the organization and the way they’ve touched the lives of others.
Depp’s wristwear is imprinted with the phrase “Today Is a Gift…Have Fun,” but other choices include “Only Love” and “Live and Love It Up.” The messages are printed on a silver bar on a silver or leather band and 100 percent of the proceeds go to the CHPCC.
“Thanks to organizations like Johnny’s Angels, more and more people are learning about the work of [CHPCC],” said cofounders Lori Butterworth and Devon Dabbs. “With the support of Mr. Depp’s fans, we know that we’ll be better able to make a difference in the lives of children with life-threatening conditions and their families.”
Other celebs who have worn the bracelets: Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Mandy Moore, Jeremy Piven, Kiefer Sutherland, Nia Vardalos, Bradley Whitford, Jane Kaczmarek and Tom Bergeron.
A British literary agency says actor Johnny Depp’s half brother Daniel will publish his first novel.
“Loser’s Town” follows a private detective called in when a Hollywood star begins receiving death threats.
MBA Literary Agents Ltd. said Friday that Daniel Depp struck a deal with Simon and Schuster to publish the book in the United States and Britain early next year. Canadian rights have been acquired by Penguin and French rights have been sold to Presses de la Cite.
Depp is a scriptwriter and producer. He splits his time between France and California.

Hollyscoop - Let’s face it, Johnny Depp can do no wrong! Not only is he gorgeous, he’s also one of the most kind-hearted actors in the biz. Depp has vowed to help a 17-year-old girl fight for her life.
Sophie Wilkinson was critically injured in a car accident five months ago, which has left her in a coma. Since Johnny Depp is her favorite actor, her parents wrote him a letter asking for his help. Much to their surprise, Depp was so moved he vowed to help in any way he could.
Wilkinson’s father Andrew says, “We are looking for the key to wake her up, so we wrote to Johnny and he said he would do the recording in the voice of (his Pirates of the Caribbean character) Jack Sparrow.
“Only this week Sophie moved her right leg, which she has never done before. When we got home my wife and I were jumping for joy!”
We’re not surprised that Depp would contribute his time to help out a little girl. Just last year Depp almost lost his own daughter to E. coli virus, so having a sick daughter has been a touchy subject since.
Comment: That’s why he’s the most adorable man in the world, and that’s why I’m so proud to be his fan.
While most of the Region was still sound asleep in warm beds, some 75 area residents gathered under a bright moon in 20 degree temperatures early Monday in hopes of doing a little star gazing.
Movie star gazing, that is.
Actor Johnny Depp is playing John Dillinger in the biopic “Public Enemies” filming this week in the outlaw’s old haunts in downtown Crown Point.
By 5 a.m., a group of nearly 50 people gathered behind an orange snow fence across Main Street from the old sheriff’s house and Hall of Justice just south of the courthouse square hoping to catch a glimpse of Depp. By 9 a.m., the crowd had grown to a few hundred.
Added some magazine scans to our gallery. Thanks to Part-Time-Poet and Hiro3 for scans

This photos represents our first glimpse of Johnny Depp in the role of 1930s bank robber John Dillinger in Michael Mann’s film PUBLIC ENEMIES. Filming began yesterday, March 17, 2008, in the small town of Columbus, Wisconsin, where crews have been busily recreating the ambience of 1933 along East and West James Street. One of Dillinger’s bank robberies will be staged at West James Gallery, a beautiful vintage building which, in Dillinger’s time, housed the First National Bank.
